Sunday Oct. 20th, 2013 in Lakewood, WA

See the registration on Webscorer Ft. Steilacoom Park, located just south of Tacoma, Washington is an urban park in the Pacific Northwest with hundreds of trails crisscrossing through open fields, lakes, forests and grasslands. The courses are fast with not a lot of climb, and feature a great variety of trails, terrain and vegetation.

We offer 5K, 10K, Half-Marathon (13.1 Mile), Marathon (26.2 Mile) and 50K options . There will be plenty of aid stations and the courses are well marked with signs at intersections. The courses start and finish at the main Ft. Steilacoom Shelter.

For you history buff out there, Ft. Steilacoom was constructed in 1849 and played a significant role in the settling of Washington Territory. The Fort is still there today and open for tours, and here's some information. This park features a state-of-the-art playground, an amazing off-leash dog park, many picnic shelters and a small lake with a paved walking path encircling its shoreline. Great place to invite the whole family out if you're so inclined!

The terrain at Ft.Steilacoom, albeit a small park, is one of the most versatile in the Northwest, with open grasslands, flat walking trails around Waughop Lake, alder walkways and deep forest singletrack.

The Red loop is 5K/3.1 miles. The Blue loop is 11.1K/6.9 miles.

  • 5K will do one Red loop (175 feet of gain)
  • 10K will do two Red loops (350 feet of gain)
  • Half Marathon will do a Red loop, a Blue loop, then a Red loop (900 feet of elevation gain)
  • Marathon will do the Half-Marathon twice (1,800 feet of elevation gain)
  • 50K will do the 10 Mile loop (Red loop plus Blue loop) three times (2,450 feet of elevation gain)

These courses are on mostly fast terrain, and incorporate almost all the trails that Steilacoom has to offer.

General

Read about how we keep the races green here.

We are dedicated to the responsible enjoyment and active stewardship of the outdoors, and we encourage you to "leave no trace behind" by taking all trash with you. The park rangers always appreciate it when racers follow the marked course and keep the trails clean, and they are much more likely to grant permission for us to put on races at the same location if the trails are kept in good condition.

The trails will be open to other users during the event such as hiker and mountain bikers. Please be courteous, you will unlikely encounter more than a few. Please let other participants pass you if they want to get by. It is a passing runner's job to tell the person in front that they wish to pass.

For refunds/cancellations please see our policy.
