Grand Ridge Solstice 5 Mile and 10 Mile Trail RunGrand Ridge Midsummer's Night Trail Run in the Pacific Northwest

Tue Jun 5, 2012 6.30PM in Issaquah, Washington

Trail Running at Lord Hill Park in the Pacific NorthwestDo you wish that the weekend was already here? Need a mental break from work? Take a mini-vacation and join us for a midweek run at Grand Ridge Regional Park, opposite of Tiger Mountain off I-90 in Washington. The trails are in great conditions and the wildflowers are out, summer is just around the corner!

The park is a well hidden jewel in the Pacific Northwest. The groves of western red cedar trees and sword ferns in the central part of the ridge provide a combination of lush green shades and soft, foliage covered trails that feel great under the feet. This run will traverse all the way down the north side of the park to give you a view of the most beautiful areas in the park.

We offer a 5 Mile and 10 Mile course, and the 10 Mile course will have an Aid Station at Mile 6. We will have water, Nuun, Clif product, PBJ sandwiches, organic fruit, cookies, crackers and pretzels. As always, at the finish there will be chocolate and organic vegetable soup, plus other goodies.

The course starts and finishes at Grand Ridge Trailhead, just off of I-90 Exit 20 (see directions tab). It begins with a wide double track until you head north into the hills on the recently built singletrack trails. These are some of the nicest trails we have encountered in the northwest and keep incredibly dry even during wet times.

The 5 Mile Loop is essentially one large lollipop loop that starts 0.5 miles after the start and follows singletrack trails up to the Issaquah Highlands ballfields and back down. The 10 Mile loop uses the loop twice, with an out and back to the aid station both times. The singletrack trails are fairly wide and passing runners should not be an issue. The courses will be well marked with streamers, turn flags and direction signs at intersections.

5 Mile Course: Blue, clockwise Green, Blue, elevation gain 750 feet.

10 Mile Course: Blue, clockwise Green, out and back Purple, clockwise Green, out and back Purple, then Blue, elevation gain 1,350 feet.

General

Read about how we keep the races green here.

We are dedicated to the responsible enjoyment and active stewardship of the outdoors, and we encourage you to "leave no trace behind" by taking all trash with you. The park rangers always appreciate it when racers follow the marked course and keep the trails clean, and they are much more likely to grant permission for us to put on races at the same location if the trails are kept in good condition.

The trails will be open to other users during the event, hikers and cyclists. Please be courteous, you will unlikely encounter more than a few. Where the trails are narrow, please let other participants pass you if they want to get by. It is a passing runner's job to tell the person in front that they wish to pass.

For refunds/cancellations please see our policy.
