Upcoming Trail Runs
The 2012 Evergreen Trail Runs Season Finale's coming up on Oct 21rd Trail Run at Ft. Steilacoom Park in Lakewood Washington - Time goes by fast when you're having fun!
Distances offered include 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, Marathon and 50k. The course has little elevation and the trails are non-technical, making it a great race if you're trail running for the first time. Some of the fastest runners will be at this race to compete for the top 3 spots (see 2012 Evergreen Trail Runs Series Standings). The points are extremely close so expect a neck to neck race to the finish.
Talking about racing hard, Papa John's Pizza on 5700 100th Street Southwest in Tacoma is sponsoring the Oct 21st Ft. Steilacoom Trail Run. They'll be waiting at the finish line for you with fresh out of the oven pizzas topped with Roma Tomatoes, Green Pappers, Onions, Spicy Italian Sausage, Parmesan and more so race hard and come to the finish line hungry! The store is just 2 miles from the park, so don't forget to check them out next time you visit.
Because this is the finale, we'll be raffling a bunch of great prizes from our sponsors. A big heartfelt thank you goes to all of them for being great supporters of the running community here in Washington!
Leave behind the hustle and bustle of the last week and give yourself a much deserved break. The next race coming up is the Sepember 8th Dash Point Park 10k, Half Marathon and MarathonTrail Run in Federal Way, WA. There are only so many beautiful, warm, sunny days left in the Pacific North West...you'll be glad you made the most of it by doing something that's great for your mind, body and spirit!
The park is a favorite trail running spot for Seattleites. The trail head is situated by a sandy beach, and a panoply of smooth singletrack leads you deep into fern-floored forest of cedar trees. Impossibly tall and close growing, thy create a complete shade and natural air conditioning to keep you cool during runs.
The park features comfortable campsite, with hot showers, flush toilets, dump station, and hookup services. Dash Point is also one of the few parks south of Seattle that has a long stretch of sandy beach for you to wiggle your toes in. Thanks to a 1% slope, roughly 2,200 feet extend out into Puget Sound, warming the shallow waters that pass over it and making Dash Point a prized swimming area. If you're looking for a great vacation spot to bring the family out for a weekend, Dash Point State Park would be an excellent choice. You can find photos of the park we took while measuring the course here and pictures of the beach on here.
For all you pizza lovers out there, Browns Point Pizza on 1000 Town Center NE in Tacoma is coming to this event with their signature fresh baked pizzas, so run hard to the finish, delicious pizza awaits!
