Fidalgo Trail Run presented by Arc’teryx Seattle

You will be hard pressed to find a race more beautiful than our Fidalgo Trail Run (or at least we think so)! This run takes place in Deception Pass State Park – the most-visited park in Washington – and weaves you through the forestlands, along the water and over the Deception Pass Bridge; if you’re scared of heights, don’t look down.

This is a great run for the whole family to enjoy. The race starts and finishes at Bowman’s Bay, which is located on the water with a sandy beach and picnic area. While your family is enjoying the relaxing atmosphere, you can tackle a 5-mile, half or full marathon run!

Woodland Speeders Kid’s Race

As part of our new Woodland Speeders program, we offer free kid’s races at all of our events. Parents are welcome to run with their kids. You can register your child during the registration process for your own race or sign them up later.  See schedule below for start time. The course for the kid’s race at Fidalgo is a little bit more challenging; it is a good singletrack trail with an elevation gain of 500′ and is 1.7 miles long.

Fidalgo Trail Run takes place on lands historically inhabited by the following Native American tribes:

Tulalip
Skagit
Coast Salish

5 Mile, Half, Full

Deception Pass State Park offers amazing views of Puget Sound and the San Juan islands.

Race Notes:

Loops, lollipops, and ocean views pretty much sum up this course!  While all distances will be on the same general course the 5-mile course is an abbreviated version of the half marathon course, only completing some of the loops. The full marathon will complete two loops of the half marathon course.

All distances will start out to the north enjoying the Rosario head loop where you can see for miles out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Then everyone will quickly pass back through the start/finish area, heading out toward the south, completing the Lighthouse loop and then the Lottie Point Loop. That’s when the 5mile runners head back toward the finish line and refreshments while the Half and Full marathon runners continue on to Pass lake. Then it’s over the Deception Pass bridge to the Goose Rock loop and finally the out-and-back to West Beach, before coming back over the bridge and back to the finish line.

It bears repeating that half and full-marathon runners will cross over the Deception Pass Bridge. While the bridge has stunning views, it also has a height of about 180ft and will remain open to traffic during the race (runners will stay on the pedestrian walkway).

In addition to the bridge being open during the event, the trails will be as well. Deception Pass State Park is a popular place, and it’s likely you will encounter other users. Please be courteous! See our FAQ page for more information about sharing the trails.

There will be aid stations throughout the course with volunteers to help, food to eat and hydration to refuel. And of course, there will be an assortment of yummy food and treats waiting for you at the finish line.
